Symptoms of PCOS

PCOS symptoms tend to be mild at first. If not treated at the earliest, then it can lead to further complications. Most common symptoms include

Infertility
Irregular periods or no periods
Thinning of hair on the scalp
Excess hair on the body and the face
Acne
Depression

Complications of PCOS

Associated complications of PCOS can be life threatening. Hence treatment for PCOS becomes very important.

Diabetes – The body might have problems in using Insulin. This is called insulin resistance. As a result, the blood sugar levels may rise which increases the chances of getting diabetes.
Heart Diseases
Uterine cancer
Sleep Apnea

Diagnosis of PCOS

Polycystic ovary syndrome can cause serious complications which can be life threatening. Hence diagnosis has to be done at the earliest and treatment should be given at the right time. Diagnosis is based on any two of the following findings:

No Ovulation
Ovarian cysts – Ultrasound can detect the cysts and
High androgen levels
